The client is a leading manufacturing company that designs, manufactures, and distributes leading-edge materials and solutions, with a mission to spread well-being across the globe. Their solutions find application in all spheres of our daily lives including, buildings, transportation, infrastructure, and industrial applications to name a few.
Business Challenges
The client manufactures a wide variety of glasses, and mind you, tons of them every day. Tracking the glasses from procurement to disposal was a daunting task, as it was performed manually and updated in the backend. Tracking missing or damaged glasses during a project, and movement of glasses from one project zone to another was especially backbreaking, and cumbersome.
It increased production cost and total cost of ownership for the client. The client wanted a state-of-the-art web application to digitize asset tracking and administer the users or workers in the manufacturing plant. They wanted to leverage best-in-class Android app developers who could also provide service at an affordable rate.
Solution
As a 16-year-old mobile app development company, our experience of working with different clients in Chennai and India helped us understand the requirements of the client and envision the right solution quickly. Our Android app developers started by developing the Android application (coupled with NFC reader) for product traceability. The app enabled staff to keep a check on work in progress of products under manufacturing.
We used RFID tags in the glasses to track them and utilized beacons to track the glass materials in transit from one project zone to another. Our seasoned web application developers developed a web CMS for admin to add new users on the plant effortlessly. Our effort streamline the entire material tracking process made it extremely simple. With this system in place, the client was able to accelerate production speed and deliver products on time without any hassle and at a reduced cost.
Our approach at a glance:
- Utilize the existing application and convert all static data to dynamic data including plant user information, process level, assets, work orders, work schedules etc.
- Enabled offline sync and remote asset tracking to allow client to track asset performance and health on the go and respond to incidents at Godspeed.
- Transformed UI to enhance user experience for manufacturing plant administrators and improved productivity.
- Leveraged NFC read-and-write capability and RFID tags on materials to determine vital parameters of assets like location, use frequency, user etc.
